Foundation Log Article – March 2023

As you read this article you would have already received your invitation to the Party with a Purpose which is scheduled for Saturday night, March 25, 2023. This is your Foundation’s major fund-raising event for the year and enables us to continue our good work for the club members and the community. It will be a great evening and will feature our silent auction, an elegant cocktail hour, a white glove gourmet dinner, complimentary beverages throughout the evening and live music. We have expanded the size of the event to 100 guests due to the popularity of the event last year. If you have not already replied to the invitation please do so. It will be a wonderful evening and you will be supporting a worthwhile cause for the community and our members as well.

Work continues on the Foundation Sailing and Watersports Center on Sunrise Bay. When completed it will give us a great platform for access to the Bay for the sailing programs and waterfront activities. When completed we will have a 20 X 40 Composite wood deck with an aluminum ramp for access to the water as well as a storage building to house sailing equipment. There will also be a 70 X 14 Floating Dock for additional space and dockage. This space will not only be functional but be an attractive site on our campus.

Our plans for the summer sailing program are well underway. The Foundation Board and the CRYC Board have approved the use of the new Sailing Center for four two week programs this summer. We are working in concert with the City of Ft. Lauderdale, who has provided significant funding, and Lauderdale Yacht Club. At this point all of the boats and equipment are in place. Housing for instructors is available, but we are still having difficulty in getting certified instructors, however we are confident that we will get that done soon. I would like to remind you that if you know someone who would like to become certified and is willing to work with the program for the summer, the Foundation will pay for the online and in person certification.

We expect to have our TEAM FOUNDATION DONATION PLAQUE at the entrance to the Clubhouse installed shortly after the Party with a Purpose to allow those who attended the event or donated to be included. All lifetime donations apply to your nameplate and level as well as donations for the Party with a Purpose and all Foundation activities to the full extent of the law. As always, thank you for your support and on behalf of the Board, we hope to see you at the event.
