Foundation Log – April 2024

As I write this article, we are all busy planning for the Party with a Purpose scheduled for March 23rd.  This will be our fifth major fund-raising event and anticipate the best one yet.  As always it features a gourmet dinner, complimentary cocktails, a great silent auction and entertainment and dancing.  For those of you who attended, Thank You Very Much.  For those who were unable to make it we hope to see you at the event next March. Please remember, donations are always welcome and help us continue our good work year-round.

I am sure you have noticed the Donation Thermometer at the entrance to the clubhouse.  We have a lofty goal of $100,000 for the year 2024.  We are already on our way to achieving our goal and with the donations from the Party with a Purpose we hope to get a good start for 2024.

We are in the process of finalizing logistics for the Summer Sailing Camp, which benefits our members and the Community as a whole.  Last year we had about 40 participants in the program with about half of them receiving scholarships.  Our partnership with the City of Ft. Lauderdale and LYC’s Foundation was very successful, and we will continue our partnership with them this year.

Our search continues for an additional 11’ Boston Whaler which will be used as a coach’s boat for the sailing program.  We are also interested in purchasing a 14’ enclosed trailer to store our sailing and other equipment and can also be used to transport the Opti’s if necessary.

Once again, thank you very much to those of you who supported us by attending the Party with a Purpose and with your generous donations.
