Foundation Log Article – June 2023

The Sailing Center is ready to go as are we for the 2023 Sailing Program. We have overcome our greatest obstacle which was to hire three coaches for the program. Now that it is done, we are working with the City and LYC putting together the logistics. I am sure that will be done by the time you read this article. Members have shown great interest in the program, and many have reserved spots for one of the four two-week sessions. The dates are as follows: Session 1 – June 19-June 30, Session 2 – July 3 –July 14, Session 3 – July 17 – July 28, Session 4 – July 31 – August 11. Special thanks to Roz Alford and Paul Erickson who have worked hard to put the Sailing Program together. We are looking forward to a great program this year.

Kevin Cassell and Rich Barnhart have been busy organizing the Sailing Equipment and Water Toys. We are evaluating our current paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats etc. We will be disposing of those that no longer are useful and making repairs and upgrades to those where appropriate. We have also allocated $10,000 to purchase some new state of the art Paddleboards and other equipment. We will also have larger boats available for Adult or Family Sailing. For those of you who would like to learn, one of our members, Denis Farley has offered to take you out. Denis has years of experience in teaching sailing as well as competition.

We are pleased to announce that the Foundation will be sponsoring a “Demo Day” on Sunday, June 11th. Come check out our new Sailing and Watersports Center and learn more about your Foundation. Join us for a day of watersports demonstrations and fun for the whole family. Members of all ages can try sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, scuba diving and tankless diving with the Blu3 Nomad dive system. Instructors and vendors will be available to assist, and all equipment will be provided by the Foundation. There will also be a buffet lunch and music by the pool. For more information please read this post and follow the club Facebook page for updates. Reservations are recommended.

If you would like to have your name included or upgraded in the Team Foundation Donor’s Plaque, it is not too late. Just contact Roz Alford or me for the information.

We look forward to seeing you at DEMO DAY on June 11.

The Party with a Purpose was a great success this year as always.  We had amazing support from our guests.  The gourmet meal was excellent and was accompanied by wine at each table or your choice of cocktails from the bar.  Our cocktail reception began at 6:30pm with an open bar and a fabulous assortment of hors d oeuvres including my favorite lollypop lamb chops.  Our Chef, Kitchen Staff and
