Foundation Log – March 2026

We are very pleased to announce that Kate Donovan and Ashley Walker will be joining the CRYC Sailing
and Water Sports Foundation Board. They will be joining our existing Board members: Bob Epstein-
President, Maynard Hellman-Vice President, Roz Alford-Secretary/Treasurer, Larry Bohannon-
Parliamentarian, Kevin Cassell, Rich Barnhart, Gil Bieger, Chip Starkey and Paul Erickson.

At this point the dates for the Summer Sailing Camp have been set. I expect the details for registration
will be available by the time this log article is published. We expect registration will be carried out by
the city as it was last year. Details will be available from our activity’s director or any of our Foundation
Board Members. I would suggest that you register your kids as soon as possible since the program will
sell out quickly as it did last year.

The dates are as follows:
Session # 1 – June 8 – June 19
Session # 2 – June 22 – July 3
Session # 3 – July 6 – July 17
Session # 4 – July 20 – July 31

Sessions 1,2, and 3 are available to all who register. Session #4 is reserved for CRYC kids and will only be
available to others if it does not sell out. Each session will have a maximum of 12 sailors.

Our major Fund-Raising event, The Party with a Purpose, is scheduled for April 11, 2026, and it is a great
event for a great cause. The evening will include complimentary cocktails and hors d oeuvres, a
gourmet dinner with wine to enjoy with dinner, Live music and dancing, and our Silent Auction. You can
make your reservation with the club or any of our Board Members. The donation is $250.00 per person
and is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Is your name or the name of your business on the Team Foundation Plaque that is prominently
displayed at the entrance to the clubhouse? A donation of $1000.00 or more and you will be included.
Of course, we welcome and appreciate donations in any amount. All donations including donations for
our events are credited to the Team Foundation Plaque. You can also help with donations of silent
auction items for the Party with a Purpose.

Education and boating safety are an important part of our mission and we are pleased to announce that
the Foundation will be sponsoring a Florida Boating Safety Course. It will be taught by our member, Hal
Burke who is a certified instructor on April 25, 2026, in the Commodores Lounge. It will be limited to 40
CRYC members and guests. There will be a website for you to register. The normal cost of the course is
$85.00 but there will be a code on the website from Broward County for a $40.00 discount. The net cost
for you will be $45.00. It is an all-day course, and lunch will be provided by the Foundation. At the
completion of the course, you will receive the Florida Boating Education ID Card which is required by all
boaters 38 years of age or younger. The course and card are valuable for all boaters.

Our outreach continues with valuable partners including, the City of Ft Lauderdale, Scuba 4 Good, St
Marks School, Boys and Girls Club of Broward, Waterway Cleanup and others. Help us to continue to
fulfill our mission and make your reservation for the Party with a Purpose or a donation of any amount.

As always, we appreciate your support and will continue to work hard for the benefit of our community
and CRYC.
