Foundation Log – March 2025

The Foundation Day was held at the Pointe, Sunrise Bay and the Sailing Center on February 1
and was a big hit. Participants enjoyed the Scuba for Good Diving, using the Foundation Water
Toys, Sailing and Sailing Instruction and what I thought was the highlight of the day, The
Regatta with our kids and the St. Marks kids. After all it is largely about the kids.
I have received comments and calls from members who attended and watched the Regatta
what a great time they had and how much they enjoyed seeing the kids sailing on Sunrise Bay.
We had live music at our beautiful new Pointe where members could enjoy lunch, the music
and the festivities. Of course, kids eat free.

We are now focused on the Summer Sailing Program and will be meeting with the City of Ft
Lauderdale next week to start putting the logistics together. We anticipate having four sessions
this year as we did last year with 12 participants in each session. Last year we had 42 kids
participate in the program with the majority of them on full scholarship, thanks to the City and
you, our generous supporters.

Our Sunday, Funday Sailing program continues to be very popular under the direction of
Merideth Campbell and her staff of volunteers as well as an experienced sailing instructor.
Safety, Fun and Learning are a priority.

Upcoming we will have another Sailing Regatta with St. Marks on April 13. Come on out and
watch the kids sail. On April 17 th , we will host the Star Art Regatta as we did last year. If you
were here last year, you will recall the spectacular painted sails on the Bay. This is a big city
event with viewing seating set up in Birch State Park. Of course we have the best seats on the
club property and the Pointe.

The Party with a Purpose is scheduled for March 29 th and is our major fund-raising event. It is an
elegant evening with a great cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, live music and a silent auction. I am
sure you have received your invitation in the mail. You can make your reservation through the
club, by returning your invitation reply card or just letting me or one of the Foundation Board
Members know. If you cannot make the event, please consider supporting our efforts with a
donation or putting your name on the TEAM FOUNDATION Plaque at the clubhouse entrance.
