FOUNDATION LOG ARTICLE FOR JULY 2025
The summer sailing camp is now in full swing and as previously mentioned in my last article it is
completely sold out. The two-week sessions that we partner with the City of Ft. Lauderdale total 36 kids
with all but a few on scholarships. The one-week sessions reserved for CRYC kids are also sold out but
there is a wait list available. There will be 24 kids participating in the two one-week sessions.
Now that our highly successful Party with a Purpose is behind us, we look forward to upcoming events.
The date has been set for Foundation Day on Sunday, October 18. Everyone is invited to enjoy a day at
the Pool and the Sailing Center on Sunset Bay. There will be live music for your enjoyment at the Pointe,
Sailing on the Bay and of course the use of our Kayaks, Paddleboards, etc. We are also planning a
Regatta on that day as well.
The Epicurean Dinner, which was previously limited to 20 guests and last year approved for 30 guests
this year will be in the Commodores Lounge on Thursday November 20. Since we are already sold out
for the event with 31 reservations, I had a conversation with Chef Steve, and he assured me that we can
provide an equally elegant event for 40 guests. This event is truly one of the most outstanding we have
at the club featuring a gourmet dinner with white glove service, complimentary cocktails, fine wines
with dinner, live music and best of all support for your Foundation.
At our last Foundation Board meeting we approved funding for a $2,500 educational scholarship.
Logistics and details to follow. We also approved a $5,000,00 donation to Scuba 4 Good. I am sure
many of you have been poolside during their monthly event. It is a great cause and very much in keeping
with our mission statement. We will also be purchasing a Laser Sailboat and an additional Paddleboard
to add to our list of assets. It is nice to see that they are being used. They are available for you to use at
no cost.
We continue to get equipment donations and this month we received Laser Sails and Masts from
another Foundation, and we received a donation of a 17-foot boat trailer from Fredrick Lepoutre. Thank
you very much.
I am sure some of you have noticed our new enclosed trailer has been beautifully wrapped and features
our logo and a QR code for those who might want to donate. The trailer is attractive, functional and a
nice space saving addition to our sailing center.
Meredith Campbell will again lead the highly successful Sunday/Funday Sailing program that she formed
last year. The start date is Sunday, September 17th . You will be receiving more details from Meredith.
As always, thank you very much for supporting your Foundation
